Mendels is based in Katoomba, NSW and she is one of many artists we spoke to who have been fortunate enough to have a garage they could convert into their 'right space'! We love converted garages because they are like blank canvases in which anything can happen. The Stooge! That's what screenwriter and novelist Mat Blackwell calls his 'right space!' The Stooge happens to be a little dungeon beneath his home that he's painted green and decorated with demonic versions of Bananas in Pyjamas. Firth is a founding member of The Chaser, an Australian satirical comedy group known for their television programs CNNNN and The Chaser's War on Everything, which aired on the ABC. He is currently editor of The Chaser Quarterly, a "journal of low-brow satire and high-brow toilet humour" which was first published earlier this year. Second issue is out now and features work from Australia's top comedy writers, including long-form satirical essays and stories to short-form news satire and ad parodies.

The 'right space' of screenwriter and executive producer Craig Pearce! Pearce, who is based in Sydney, co-wrote with Baz Luhrmann the Australian classic 'Strictly Ballroom', as well as 'Romeo + Juliet', 'Moulin Rouge' and most recently 'The Great Gatsby.' We caught up with Pearce to talk about his very tidy workspace, his life as a globetrotting writer and his current project, 'Will' a TV series about the lost years of William Shakespeare, on which he is the executive producer and showrunner for TNT.
